Edgar Allan Poe

January 1809 - October 1849

Macabre - disturbing and horrifying because of involvement with or depiction of death and injury

  • Parents died when he was 3
  • Orphaned
  • Failed to be successful in college/military
  • Married his young cousin (true love)
  • Wife died after he became successful
  • He died shortly after (mysterious death)
  • Poor his entire life

It may be the narrators because he is so scared, he can hear it. When your scared you can hear your own heart.

The police is at the door.

The story is creepy because it all started with the narrator sneaking in the old man's room, and just watching him for over 7 nights. Then he watches him for a long time, and the goes back to wherever he lives at. I do like this story because you would never guess that the narrator would tell the police he killed the old man.

Soldier's Dilemma

Dillon should shoot the girl because if she was wasn't a terrorist, she would've put up her arms and would've surrendered to them just in case the soldiers would shoot. I  do not agree with Sergeant Johnson because if Dillon was for sure the person was not a terrorist then he would have no reason to shoot. But if he wasn't sure then i think he should shoot.

Politics

I'm not really interested in politics. I think it's boring, even though it helps set up rules for the world. I don't follow in with politics. I don't know a lot about it either.

I like Romney and Obama. I think the united states should give Romney a chance.  Obama has done a good job also. I really wouldn't care who got the spot for president.

Free Write Critical Thinking

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. -Aristotle

I think Aristotle is right.  He is saying it is better to have a thought about everything, or to know a little about everything. If you just know only one thing then you really wouldn't know anything about the other topic, or the opposing side of the argument.

Aristotle had more of a open mind. Him having an open mind made him wiser. Instead of a closed mind with little knowledge, most of the people would have an open mind.

Compare And Contrast "Open Window"

I think the movie is alright.  The movie was better though because its better than reading.
